Description: |
Built in the 1920s by Pullman for the Reading Company, this coach was assigned to some of the name trains of the system, such as the King Coal and later the Crusader. Retired in 1966, it arrived at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania a few years later. It sat on display in the outdoor storage yard for many years until recently being moved across the street to the Strasburg Railroad's yard. Judging by markings on the side, this car might be destined for the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society of Hamburg, PA in the near future. |

PRR 4465 |
Description: |
The last E44 in existance, number 4465 was built by the General Electric Corporation in 1963 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Constructed for use in freight service on the Pennsy's electrified lines on the eastern end of the system, this unit also saw service for Penn Central and Conrail before it being placed in retirement after electrified freight operations were discontinued. Conrail sold 4465, along with a few sister units, to NJ Transit where they languished at the former CNJ Elizabethport shops for a few years before being sold again to Amtrak. Amtrak painted 4465 silver and planned to use it as a MOW unit on the Northeast Corridor. However it wasn't long before Amtrak donated the unit to the Museum. Today it sits on display alongside many of its former roster mates from the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad. |

Built by American Car & Foundry in 1906, this wooden gondola was donated to the Museum by the Delaware & Hudson in 1974. One of the oldest pieces of D&H rolling stock in existance today. The Delaware & Hudson, primarily operating in the state of New York, mostly kept to the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. After 1976 however, when Conrail came about, the D&H would expand with certain lines and trackage rights due to a need for competition. |

Description: |
Constructed by Budd in 1968 for the Pennsylvania Railroad, these cars, state of the art for their time, weren't introduced until after the Penn Central merger. These units came about at the beginning of the push for high speed passenger rail in the Northeast, the predecessors of today's modern trains run by Amtrak. The 860, a snack bar car, is the only Metroliner car that survives today with an original interior and exterior. The majority of units have been converted by Amtrak to non powered cab cars, many of which can be seen operating on Keystone Service trains not far from the Museum. |

AMTK 603 |
Description: |
Originally built in 1976 by GE as E60CH 964, this unit, along with its sisters, were intended to replace all of Amtrak's former PRR GG-1s in passenger service. However these units could never match the legendary Juniata built motors in terms of speed, something that the EMD AEM-7 would later accomplish. One thing that the E60s did have was pulling power, making them an ideal choice for the longer trains on the Northeast Corridor. With the arrival of the AEM-7 some were sold off to other roads, such as NJ Transit. Most of the rest were rebuilt into as E60MA and renumbered into a 600 number series. 603 is the only one remaining of this group, having been purchased by the Museum in 2003, and is one of two Amtrak E60s to survive today. |
