Album Info:The GASR took over operations on lines formerly run by the GMR/HOG on December 2009. The pics here are on the Dover to Metter section of the line. The train does not make many runs at all to Metter, so catching them heading that way is a treat. Here they are heading to Metter to retrieve a loaded scrap gon. Unfortunately I had to head back home once they shoved in the scrap yard.

Description:  Backing down the long lead at Allied Metals. They were in the scrap yard for a while. I'm guessing they were not quite finished loading that gon so unfortunately I had to make my way back home before they pulled.

Description:  The mainline or top of the wye is behind the small tree directly behind the 2024. The track at the bottom of the wye or in front of the engine ends into East Lillian Street behind me about 4 railcar lengths ahead.

Description:  The sun was fast approaching the middle of the sky so I had to make do. Crossing over the branch heading to Metter. This is where the Central of GA crossed the G&F (Statesboro Northern) and the Savannah and Statesboro Railroad.

Description:  "Pre-turning" the 2024 on the wye. Once they pull the loaded scrap gon from Allied Metals they will use the wye again to run around it and at the same time have the short hood forward for the return trip.
