Album Info:Without a doubt, one of the premier attractions at the 2011 Rock Island Train Festival was this Chinese built QJ 2-10-2 steam engine, #6988, and its twin, #7081. Built in 1985 by Datong Locomotive Works, it was shipped to the US and loaded on flatcars in Houston for its trek to Rock Island in June, 2006. This engine has gone through some modifications from its original appearance to more closely match American steam engines - ie whitewalls on black wheels, white running stripe, one central headlight, brass bell, and small nameplate in front above the cowcatcher. Many other subtle changes make it seem Americanized when compared to its cousing #7081.
