CNDX 6699 - Old Lyme CT - 01/29/2016 |
Description: |
Providing a splash of color on a dreary January day is Connecticut Department of Transportation train 1616, with equipment painted in the colors of the old New Haven Railroad, traveling across the Old Saybrook/Old Lyme truss and Bascule bridge over the Connecticut River. This train, heading from New London to Old Saybrook, has CNDX cab car 1713 up front, and CNDX GP40PH-2 6699 shoving on the rear. CNDX was built by EMD in April 1967 as Clinchfield Railroad GP38 2009. When CRR was included in the merger that created the Seaboard System, this engine became SBD 6280 and, in yet another merger, it was numbered CSXT 2189. It was rebuilt into a GP40PH-2 passenger engine for Conn DOT by AMF. (Old Lyme, Connecticut – January 29, 2016) |
