KCS GP40 787 |
Description: |
Kansas City Southern GP40 787 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in February 1967 as Illinois Central 3051 (EMD 32871) and was acquired by the KCS in April 1982, after its initial 15-year lease expired. KCS sent it to Morrison-Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in January 1992 as partial payment for upgrading 16 GP40’s into GP40M-2’s 4780-4795. M-K sold to Helm in March 1996 and it went AMF in Montreal, where it was remanufactured into GP38M-3 number 62 for the Roberval & Saguenay Railway in January 1997. |
