A Missouri Pacific crew had just brought this run-through train across the Huey P. Long Bridge, and a Southern yard crew has gotten on board. They would bring the train across New Orleans, where a road crew would get on and it would officially become Southern No. 114 for Birmingham. The motive power was GP35 2696, GP30's 2605 and 2595, and GP35 2657, all running backwards! |

7.21.1984 Spencer, NS. SOU GP35 32696 at the end of the motive power on a southbound COFC train #221 just out of Linwood Yard. It is passing through the Spencer Yard, formerly a part of the Spencer Shops. The sop grounds were decommissioned by Southern RY in the mid 1970's and was donated to the State of North Carolina to become a transportation museum . Over the past 45+ years the North Carolina Transportation Museum has gather an impressive collection of locomotives, freight & passenger cars, automobiles, and trucks. |
