Marianchuk-30th Street. Here is the third of three original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken near the Pennsylvania Railroad's 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. In the foreground is PRR engine #4803, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric during June of 1935 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. It's just departed the Station with a northbound passenger train. Visible in the background is a small portion of the PRR's freight-only "High Line."

Description:
Electrics. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4805, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric in June of 1935, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired in July of 1968 after 33 years of faithful service. Note that the second "car" in this train is actually a cabin car. The exact date and the location are not recorded. (Gift from Brad Mann.)

PRR 4726, P-5A, 1953
Description:
Meadows. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Engine Service Tracks at Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, on 19 September 1953. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is PRR engine #4726, a P-5A (2-C-2) built by Baldwin-Westinghouse during December of 1932, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in May of 1963. Two more PRR locomotives are also visible here. At the far left is #4747, a P-5A (Modified) built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in March of 1935, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in April of 1962. At the far right is #4806, a GG-1 built by General Electric in June of 1935 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. ("Stoneborobranch"; #12 of 32)

Description:
Here is a postal card via Peter Outerbridge entitled "Wilmington Shops." Caption On Reverse: "Wilmington Shops. The main electric shop for the Pennsylvania Railroad was located in Wilmington, Del. This shop also served Penn Central and Amtrak in later years to maintain their fleets of GG-1's and other electric locomotives. GG-1's monopolize the scene in this October 1967 view. Photo by Carl H. Sturner." All nine of the PRR locomotives pictured here are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics rated at 4,620 horsepower each. Of those nine, three are identifiable: #4909, #4878, and #4809. #4909 and #4878 were built in Juniata: the former in December of 1941, the latter in February of 1939. #4809 was constructed by General Electric in July of 1935.

Here is the 30th of 33 color prints of calendar art works that were commissioned by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1925 through 1958. Shown here is Grif Teller's painting entitled "Mass Transportation." It was published originally in 1955. Depicted here are no fewer than a dozen Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric locomotives rated at 4,620 horsepower each. In the foreground is PRR engine #4814 that was built by General Electric in August of 1935 and retired in May of 1967. Also depicted is PRR engine #4829 built in Juniata in June of 1935 and retired in July of 1969. In this context, they're all supporting the annual Army-Navy Football Game.
