Description:  Originally built by EMD in August of 1953 as NYC E8A #4084, it bounced through the rosters during the NYC and PC collapses. It landed for a period of time on the New Jersey Dept of Transportation as seen here. An unknown railfan caught it in commuter service at Bay Head, NJ. No exact day or even month was given in 1981 for this photo so an approximate was used.

Description:  Here is another view taken by an unknown railfan of New Jersey Dept of Transportation E8A #4272 as it sat in the Bay Head, NJ, yard. Originally built as PRR E8A #5702A, this loco has bounced from one roster to another making it a true "boomer" loco. It was last photographed for the RRPA database in 2022 still wearing the EL paint scheme it picked up along the way. EMD sure did build long lasting locomotives!
