Amtrak 545 in Alabama  Contributor's Pick!
Amtrak SDP40F is the sole unit on train no.56, the northbound "Floridian" as it makes its station stop at Montgomery AL in January 1979. The "Floridian" was Amtrak's last attempt at a direct Chicago to Florida train; it was anulled only ten months later. Looking back now I wonder why I didn't shoot a picture of the whole train and the station; ah, but that's irrelevent now. As for this unit, the five-year old 545 has only a few months to go before it went back to EMD as trade bait for a new F40PH.
