Once a hot spot  Contributor's Pick!
This fascinating structure was once a junction for the mighty B&O in southwestern Ohio. Imagine being here in 1955; the line to the right was the road's Washington to St Louis mainline; it hosted six First-Class passenger trains a day with great names like National Limited, Metropolitan and Diplomat. Most of them didn't stop here- but blew through, perhaps picking up orders as they raced across the country. There was also a daily Pittsburgh-Louisville local that used the line to the left; it was carded at 4:45 westbound and 2:27 PM east. There were also freights of course, but now both lines are operated by the Indiana & Ohio- and the former main runs only east to Greenfield.
