While in the Livingston shops in early April, the 290 was equiped with an APU and its centennial logo painted over. For those who don't know, the auxilary power unit (APU) is a system that will shut down the main engine and start a small diesel that will circulate oil and coolant in the engine. In the 290's case this equipment is located in the old steam generator area.
