Joe Hill General Well, this certainly brings back memories!!! More than once, I sat at a local burger joint on this street, and watched these giants rumbling through town. Awesome! 8/14/2009 3:15:05 PM
Tim Huemmer General Wow, I had no idea that the tracks used to run through town this way. I just looked at an aerial map of the city and can see traces of the old alignment. Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to look for traces of this old route. Thanks for posting! 8/18/2009 11:23:51 AM
Kevin Andrusia General Superb, I am thankful we had folks shootin' this stuff before I knew what an F-stop was all about! 10/10/2009 11:59:58 AM
David Stewart General Very nice and rare also, Good shot! 10/14/2009 3:41:37 AM
Jim Gavin General Better be careful where you park in this town. 10/14/2009 11:39:09 PM
Atlanta Rails General Wow Excellent shot Bernie!!! Thats some close clearance there. Ive heard that they had streetrunning there, never seen many pics, thanks for sharing. 1/9/2010 1:28:09 PM
Jim Satterwhite General Exciting times...I wonder if the Mercury eventually collected SCL safety appliance yellow? 7/6/2010 2:19:58 PM
George Redmond General Nice shot, that street is about full with that GP40 on it. 8/2/2010 4:16:33 PM
Fred Stuckmann General Tight fit, great shot. 3/22/2011 8:34:38 AM

Bryan Smith General Cherry Street I think. I have seen this back in the day but there are few photos around. Great pic. And I remember a burger joint on this street...in an old store building with tall ceilings and crumbling walls. They served a burger about twice the size of a half dollar for a cheap price. You could buy a sackful for a few dollars...and they were good!!! 3/22/2011 6:45:59 PM
Dennis Weber General Nice Shot. 3/22/2011 7:16:28 PM
David Barrentine General Great shot Bernie!! I've been to Montezuma and didn't realize they had street running tracks before. 3/23/2011 9:41:49 PM
Ken Roble General What were they thinking building a railroad right down a narrow corridor? I had heard they had a major derailment destroying some of the buildings there for the line was rerouting around Montezuma. Glad someone had shots of this. 1/2/2012 12:16:22 PM
Mike Maskel General NICE SHOT 8/1/2018 4:29:46 PM
Joe Hill General In nine years, this scene would be gone after the main was relocated and these tracks ripped up. A derailment that destroyed a building AND a MofW crane dragging its boom down the sides of the buildings put an end to scenes like this. 6/2/2024 1:33:34 PM
