| This is Mansfield, Washington; located in Douglas County, and, up to 1985, the end of a 61-mile branch from the main at the Columbia River. The line was famed for its light rail and late use of 40' boxcars to haul grain. This view looks to the northeast; the rails entered town from the southwest and ran along Railroad Stree past the two grain elevators to the south-oriented wye near the end of the tracks. The town's small airport was located close-by as well. |
