Retired caboose being delivered to LaFayette, AL for eventual display by the depot there, which was now a county museum.         
In later years, the NS Opelika Swticher was cut off and replaced by a turn running out of Opelika which made the trip to Lafayette and returned a couple times per week. These later era trains were long and usually warranted what ever Columbus Yard in Columbus, GA could muster. Typical power was a pair of GPs or in this case, a single B32-8.
