| SP 7436 SD45R idles with an SW1500 at Miller Yard on an overcast autumn afternoon. Delivered to Southern Pacific as SP 8819 SD45 in August 1966, this big EMD would be rebuilt by SP shop forces at Sacramento and released as SP 7436 SD45R on May 27,1982. This unit would retain the same number until being retired by Union Pacific on June 30, 1999. I was unable to locate any information on the fate of this locomotive after it departed the UP roster so I assume it was scrapped. |
