MEC 501
I may stand corrected but I belive the story goes something like this. The 501 was being moved, pbly to Conway. Someone threw an old rain coat and other debris into the firebox to make some smoke for the camera. Anyone confm?? /DL

Stephen Healy General I remember seeing a few pictures in Trains Magazine. It floored me when I first saw in on the index page of the magazine. I recognized Crawford Depot and I thought that steam was back in the Notch. I thought I had missed an "event" only to realize the joke. 1/2/2013 8:09:44 PM
Stephen Healy General The story in Trains Magazine was that the crew of the MEC freight making the move, couldn't pass up the photo op. So they cut the diesels off, threw an old rain jacket they had in the cab, into the smoke box and lit it up. 3/17/2014 10:58:44 PM
