Production began in late 1961, with the first units going to the NKP in February 1962. The unit pictured was built for the Tennessee Central as number 304 (c/n 84407), built in April 1963, delivered in June, sold to the L&N in early 1968 when the TC declared bankruptcy, becoming L&N 913. All TC's RS36's ended up on the L&N, TC 301-305 becoming L&N 910-914. |
