Built in 1928 by Pullman in Lot #6125 to Plan #3959A as 3C-2DR sleeper lounge observation CRYSTAL PEAK, 1 of 7 such cars in that Lot, which were delivered between April and May 1928. In 1937-1938, the names of 6 of the 7 cars were changed from the CRYSTAL-series to the GOLDEN-series for use on the GOLDEN STATE LIMITED; CRYSTAL PEAK was renamed GOLDEN PEAK in February 1938. Retained by Pullman at the 12/31/1948 divestiture, the GOLDEN PEAK was sold in 1955 to private ownership and reconfigured to business car VIRGINIA CITY.
