WAB 4-6-2 #663 - Wabash RR  Contributor's Pick!
This is an updated correction to the information posted in 2014 - thanks to Chuck Zeiler for catching the discrepancies. It is very much appreciated! This loco is an example of an Alco-Richmond Pacific-type locomotive built in February of 1912 for the Wabash RR. Specifics - serial #50638, J1 class, 74" drivers, 24x26" cylinders, 200 psi, engine weight of 241,000 lb, tractive effort of 34,404 lb. The class was retired between 1951-54. No actual date or location was listed for this photo so both are approximations. The only indication of the photographer were the initials CJD.
