There are a number of race tracks in the New York area, two of them directly served by rail. One is Aqueduct, on the IND A train, and has its own station on the Rockaway Line, which was, prior to 1954, the LIRR. The other Belmont Park, home of Triple Crown even Belmont Stakes. The Long Island had a station on a spur off the Main Line at Queens interlocking, enabling trains to access the station there. This view is from the Bellerose station, looking west, as a train of M 1s takes the switch to the spur. |
