PC 6121, SD45, 1973
PC Power. Here is an original photo that I took of a Penn Central Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during June of 1973. Shown here (F to R) are PC engines #6121, #8071, and another unit whose number is not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #6121 is an SD45 built in October of 1966 and rated at 3,600 horsepower; its original PRR number was the same. #8071 is a GP38-2. They are passing under the 12th Street Footbridge with a long string of hopper cars that they have brought down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve from Gallitzin and points West. Visible at the right is one of the original ~ and last remaining ~ Pennsylvania Railroad 12th Street Car Shop buildings.
