LBR 1923
One of Steamtown's four Consolidation type steam locomotives and the youngest of the group. A product of Alco's Cooke plant, this engine was originally built for use on sugar plantations in Cuba. When the purchase couldn't be completed, the locomotive was put up for sale in the United States, finally purchased by New York shortline Lowville & Beaver River Railroad three years later. The L&BR numbered their new engine in their tradition of road numbers matching the year of acquisition. The 1923 served the line between Lowville and Croghan, NY.
