| The late 70s found a wide variety of commuter services in the Chicago area. Some, like the BN or Northwesterns, were extensive. Others were vestigal remains of larger plans, and a few were always small. One of the smaller ones was the single trip on the ex Pennsy out to Valparaiso Ind, which Conrail inherited from PC. It ran with a pair of GP 9s and some ex PRR P 70s, though after the EL Cleveland train quit in January 1977, the cars from that service came west and were added to the Valpo train.
