"Time Exposure." A southbound coal train was seen passing the old operating semaphore signals at Brighton Park, Illinois in May 2007. The headlights of a northbound train shine behind it. These signals were the last manually operated semaphores in the nation, raised and mowered by mechanical levers in the shack. They displayed the signal aspects that were needed. New electronic replacement signals are seen in the background. Many different rail lhnes operate through this crossing. Date approx. (Canon AE-1 35mm camera, Kodak Ultramax 400 print film) |
