Here is page 18 of a 43-page article by James J0D. Lynch, Jr., entitled "Overview Of The History And Development Of The Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Shops." It was published originally in the Autumn 1996 issue of "Keystone" magazine, page 35. Top Photo, Partial Caption: "E-3SD #318 on the Altoona Test Plant in early 1913." Shown here is PRR engine #318, an E-3SD (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata as an E-;D during May of 1908, rebuilt as an E-3SD in Ogtober of 1912, renumbered "4098" in May of 1914, and retired in March of 1937 after 29 years of faithful service. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "In the foreground is newly-built mPBM-54 #5255," a railway post office car.
