Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) 0-6-0 100 was built in May 1911 as Baldwin serial No. 36510. This little locomotive was one of 21 S-8 class switchers built for the T&NO between 1906 and 1911. It was retired on 1 June 1950, just about the time this photo was taken at ALGIERS YARD, and sold for scrap to Commercial Metals in Houston on 19 July; so this may be the very last time this loco was ever photographed! The 100 was among the last survivors of this class on the T&NO; but there had also been 73 S-8's on the Espee's Pacific Lines, and a few of these outlasted their T&NO counterparts.
