PRR 9600, AF-15, 1956
TRB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Rockville, Pennsylvania, during March of 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9600 and an "AF" Class B-unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9600 is an AF-15 built in July of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963. In this context, it's crossing the Rockville Bridge with a mixed-cargo freight train out of Enola on its way to Renovo and points North. Note that one of the original four mainline tracks has been removed.
