Duplexes. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Englewood, Illinois, in 1946. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5502, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata during November of 1945 and retired in December of 1953 after just eight years of revenue service. In this context, it's rockin' 'n' rollin' with a ten-car passenger train sans head-end baggage and mail cars. (#6,000) |
