Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 15 November 1959. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9806 and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9806 was built in April of 1951 and retired in August of 1967 after just 16 years of revenue service. In this context, they're pulling a fully-loaded mineral train out of Altoona and are about to cross the Rockville Bridge on their way to Harrisburg and points East. ("LouisFols"; #16 of 26) |
