Tom Beckett General Agreed, great action shot. Looking back on this scene now, from the perspective that almost everything now runs with six axle power, it's amazing how many trains Conrail ran with 4 axle units, in all kinds of service. Intermodal was traditionally a four axle event, due to the relatively light loadings, and especially on the NYC, easy gradient, but CR was not shy about running heavy mineral trains behind GP 38's and 40's as well as stacks.
