Southern Pacific RSD12/DL702 locomotives 2958, 2964 and 2962 were on a transfer run at the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio’s CANAL YARD in New Orleans; and here they were heading back to the south end of the yard, passing the yard office-scale house. Twenty-one of these units were built by Alco in 1961 for mainline work in California, using components from retired RSD5; but all were reassigned to less-demanding yard and transfer service at Houston and New Orleans in 1967, and they remained there until the last were retired in 1977.
