LV Doodlebug #16 - Lehigh Valley
This doodlebug and its 27 other sister gas/electric units were designed to be a cheaper alternative to "small" passenger trains, to run on the more lightly-used branch lines, and to bring passengers from the more remote parts of the LV system out to the mainline where they could connect to the longer distance trains. This particular one was built by EMC (predecessor to EMD) in August of 1929 (serial #370) with the body supplied by Osgood Brady Car Company just before it was purchased by the Pullman Company in 1930. The unusual doodlebug road the rails on lightly used branch lines for nearly 22 years until it was scrapped on 9/28/1951. Thoto was taken by Mr. Gray. .
