Louisville & Nashville J-3 class 2-8-2 1549 was on northbound train No. 76 as it left JULIA STREET YARD in New Orleans. The train was at the Lafayette Street grade crossing and it would pick up its cars at GENTILLY YARD, six miles away on the east side of the city. The locomotives had been built by Alcos’ Richmond Works (63789) in 1922 and was retired on 15 October 1952. (approximate date of photo) |
