Description:
Here is page 19 of a 22-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Power For Today's Trains." It was issued originally during July of 1949. Top Photo, Partial Caption: "For industrial switching and used in small freight yards. Wheels arranged in four-wheel trucks." Shown here is PRR engine #9325, a GS-4 switcher built by General Electric in November of 1947, rated at 380 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "For general service. Wheel arrangement: 0-6-0." Shown here is PRR engine #3917, a B-1 (C) electric built in Juniata in June of 1926, rated at 570 horsepower, and retired in December of 1962.

Electric Scrap. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Frankstown, Pennsylvania, on 15 December 1962. Shown here (R to L) are eight PRR electric engines: #4720, #4708, #5689, #3915, #4704, #4768, #3900, and #3917. #4720, #4708, #4704, #4768 are P-5A's built in 1932 and rated at 3,750 horsepower each. #4720, #4708, and #4704 were built by Baldwin-Westinghouse ~ but #4768 was built by General Electric. #5689, #3915, #3900, and #3917 are B-1's built by Juniata. #5689 was built in 1934 ~ but #3915, #3900, and #3917 were built in 1926.
